Tell me about the last time you made a significant mistake… What did you learn from this experience?

This puts your candidate right on the spot – we all make mistakes, but it is those that learn from their mistakes that evolve as an individual and as a valuable part of a team.

If the candidate is unable to come with an example this could be due to shyness but also might be an insight to absence of retrospective reflection. Which again raises concerns on their ability to grow and evolve both as an individual and as a team member.
